FREE BUS RIDES FOR QUALIFIED MATC STUDENTS
Qualified MATC students can ride Milwaukee County Transit System buses for free by using the UMO Mobility app or a WisGo card. To qualify, a student must be taking six or more college-level credits during Fall or Spring semesters, or three or more college-level credits during the Summer session.
If you qualify, download the app or get a WisGo card. Here’s how:
UMO Mobility App
The app is the simplest way for qualified students to ride the bus for free. Here’s how it works:
-
- Get the benefit code from the email you should have received two weeks before the semester started. It should have “WISGO Bus Pass” in the subject line.
- Download the UMO Mobility app available at the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
- Set up an account in the app.
- Enter the benefit code when prompted and complete the setup process.
- Open the app when you get on the bus and scan the QR code.

WisGo Card
If you aren’t able to use the UMO Mobility app, you’ll have to get a WisGo card. Cards are only for students who do not have a smartphone, are financially unable to maintain a data plan, or have disabilities that make it difficult to use a phone. Here are a few things to know about the WisGo card:
- Get a card at the Student Life office at any MATC Campus:
- Downtown Milwaukee: S Building, Room S230C
- Mequon: Room A129
- Oak Creek: Room A204
- West Allis: Room 133
- DO NOT add money to your WisGo card. Adding money to it will invalidate it, and a replacement WisGo card will need to be purchased.
- If you lose your WisGo card, you will have to pay $25 for a new one. First pay the fee at the Cashier’s office and get a receipt. Then bring the receipt and your Stormer Pass (student ID) to the Student Life office to get a replacement card. The lost original card will be deactivated.
The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) offers many routes to MATC campuses. A complete list of bus routes is available on our Public Transportation Page.
