Ombudsperson

MATC’s Office of the Ombudsperson (or Ombuds) is an alternate resource available for students and employees to informally raise and address college-related concerns, issues or conflicts. The office is guided by the principles of confidentiality, independence and neutrality and provides a safe, off-the-record and non-judgmental space for problem-solving and conflict resolution.

APPEALS

Administrative Withdrawal Appeals

Students who are administratively withdrawn for non-attendance from a course or multiple courses may appeal and request reinstatement if they disagree with their administrative withdrawal.

Student Account Appeal

Students are responsible for payment of tuition and fee charges for all classes in which they register. If a student encounters extenuating circumstances that impact their ability to attend and/or complete their registered courses, they may request an appeal to potentially reduce tuition and fee charges.

If you either applied to Promise or Promise for Adults and were denied eligibility, are a qualified Promise student or Promise for Adults student who was disqualified during the semester, or a current Promise student or Promise for Adults student who needs to take a semester off:

Distance Education Conducted Across State Lines Complaints

To report concerns of out-of-state students to the Wisconsin Distance Learning Authorization Board (DLAB) regarding distance learning programs conducted across state lines under specific and limited circumstances:

Wisconsin Technical College System Concerns

Students who attend a college that is part of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) can file complaints at the System level in three categories defined by the U.S. Department of Education, including complaints that:

  • Allege violations of Wisconsin consumer protection laws, including but not limited to false advertising
  • Allege violations of Wisconsin laws related to the licensure of postsecondary institutions
  • Relate to the quality of education or other State or accreditation requirements

Note: A formal complaint must have been filed through MATC's complaint process prior to filing a complaint with WTCS.
