Storytelling Workshop - Son Jarocho Location: Education Center at Walker's Square, 816 W. National Ave, Milwaukee, WI, 53226 Son jarocho is a Afro-Indigenous musical tradition from Veracruz, Mexico. It’s sound is lively and profoundly impacted by its rich history of resistance. It is sung in versos, which are four to 10-line verses. Versos tell stories of love, troubles, veneration for nature, social critique and anything in between. It’s dance form is a percussive rhythmic tapping known as zapateado. |
