Faculty Learning Communities

Faculty Learning Communities

A Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is designed to create a space of faculty collaboration, discourse, innovation, and knowledge sharing. An FLC is created when a small group of faculty members explore relevant, current, and timely topics related to teaching and learning. Faculty in FLCs define a time period in which to engage with each other (a semester, an academic year, etc.) and meet throughout the duration. Faculty in FLCs engage their intellectual curiosity, explore innovative educational practices, and review relevant and current research relating to topics of teaching and learning. Faculty who participate in FLCs often feel validated in their instructional practices, have an increased sense of community and support, and feel their contributions to their peers and the college are valued.
