The Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation has received a pledge of $100,000 over four years from the Johnson Controls Foundation to support the MATC Promise, with the possibility of an additional $50,000 in 2018 and 2019.

MATC President Dr. Vicki J. Martin introduced the MATC Promise in September 2015. The “last dollar” scholarship program will pay for eligible students’ tuition and fees after federal and state financial aid has been determined. The first class of Promise students will enroll at MATC this fall.

“Johnson Controls has been a long-time partner with MATC and we are grateful for this generous gift in support of our future Promise students,” said Martin.

“We believe this program holds great potential for the youth of our city,” said Grady L. Crosby, Vice President Public Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer at Johnson Controls. “Our future depends on young people making healthy choices and obtaining a quality education. The MATC Promise is one vehicle that can be instrumental in addressing achievement gaps as well as support future earning potential. We are happy to support and continue to work closely with MATC."
