About the Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Degree

Description

The Biotechnology Laboratory Technician program offers a well-rounded and accessible path into the dynamic biohealth field. Students explore innovations in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, digital health and BioAI through a balanced combination of classroom learning and extensive hands-on laboratory experience. The curriculum introduces modern techniques used in areas such as precision medicine, genetic testing and biomedical research, with an emphasis on developing strong technical skills that are in high demand by employers. The program prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to advances in medicine and product development, positioning them to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare.

The Biotechnology Laboratory Technician AAS program provides hands-on training in essential and advanced lab techniques, preparing graduates to directly enter the biohealth field. Students are also well-positioned to continue study toward a bachelor's degree with most 200-level courses included in the program transferable to partner universities. Students may also earn a Science Processing Technician certificate after the first year as part of the program for additional employment opportunities.
