General Education

WELCOME

Dean ByrdThe General Education Academic and Career Pathway serves the largest number of MATC students. It is the most diverse Pathway, providing a solid foundation for all academic and career pursuits. Through a dynamic combination of courses in the liberal arts and sciences, the General Education Pathway fosters educational excellence, critical inquiry and interdisciplinary learning.

Our students are empowered to explore a wide range of subjects across the arts and humanities, natural sciences, mathematics and social sciences, enabling them to shape personalized learning experiences that align with their unique academic and career aspirations. The courses within the General Education Pathway are designed to cultivate socially aware global citizens who are dedicated to solving problems and fostering positive change in their communities and beyond.

Students learn how to think critically, analyze data and communicate as professionals. These courses intentionally and ethically introduce students to artificial intelligence tools and guide students in using them to learn. Each course plays a role in preparing students for more education, a career and a rich life in their chosen communities.
