Criminal Justice Studies

This two-year associate degree program is designed to prepare students for employment in criminal justice careers at the state, local and federal levels, as well as in the field of private security.

LAW ENFORCEMENT Training & Certification Programs

MATC provides training, certification and recertification opportunities for professionals working in law enforcement, corrections and private security.

720-HOUR LAW ENFORCEMENT BASIC TRAINING ACADEMY

Pre-service candidates who successfully complete this training are deemed “certifiable” for a position in law enforcement by the State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board for a period of three years. 

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license (or one recognized by the Wisconsin DOT)
  • High school diploma or HSED/GED
  • Completion of 40 or more credits from fully-accredited college
  • Completed application for Preparatory Training Enrollment (DJ-LE-327) 
  • Physical test
  • Oral interview

New Investigator's School
This is a 40-hour course (needs more desc)

Rescue Task Force Refresher
This 16-hour course, taught by Police and Fire instructors/Trainers, provides a unified response capability amongst protective service providers with proven tactics, techniques, and procedures after a neutralized or mitigated hostile event. Training will cover hot/warm/cold zone preparation, unified command, law enforcement force protection and unified response, and casualty collection points.

 

BASIC JAILER ACADEMY

The 200-Hour Jail Officer Academy trainee will learn key concepts and skills for jail operations and guidelines for protecting inmates. Wisconsin Department of Justice – Training and Standards Bureau curriculum meets certification requirements for corrections officers.

SECURE JUVENILE DETENTION

This program provides curriculum required for juvenile detention worker certification with the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Students must pass a skills assessment to complete. The program is certified by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB).
