U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DISCLOSURES UPDATED January 10, 2021

Through the CARES Act, MATC received $8.5 million from the U.S. Department of Education. MATC provided the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) with a signed Certification and Agreement. No less than 50% of these funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act were used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

An estimated 10,260 Title IV eligible students were identified as eligible to receive assistance. MATC used the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and DOE Guidelines for Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act to determine eligibility for Title IV and CARES Act funding. Additional screens were applied to ensure students were not continuing education, contract training or dual enrollment students, and were enrolled in at least one in-person class on March 13, 2020. The college awarded maximum grants of up to $2,000 per eligible student. 100% of the assistance was provided by federal funds.

MATC received and fully distributed the full $4,252,687 Student Emergency Financial Aid Grants allocated by the CARES Act to 5,356 students by September 30, 2020.

No less than 50% of these funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act will be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. MATC made the decision to provide $6.5 million of the CARES funds to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

As of September 2, 2020, $4,880,000 has been distributed to 4,396 students. MATC estimates that 10,260 Title IV eligible students are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act.

MATC is using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and DOE Guidelines for Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act to determine eligibility for Title IV and CARES Act funding. Additional screens were applied to ensure students were not continuing education, contract training or dual enrollment students, and were enrolled in at least one in-person class on March 13, 2020.

A maximum grant of $500 was initially set by the College to ensure all eligible students could receive grant funds. This maximum grant was increased to $1,000 on May 20, 2020 to better assist students with emergency needs related to COVID-19.

To support students in continuing their education during this challenging time, MATC will provide an additional $500 grant for eligible students who enrolled for Summer 2020, and a final $500 grant for those enrolled for Fall 2020, on a first-come, first-serve basis until the designated CARES funding is exhausted. This will result in maximum grants per eligible student of up to $2,000. Students who are new applicants for funds in Fall 2020 can receive up to $500 as funds are available.
