DR. Michael West
Michael T. West, Ed.D., became vice president of strategic initiatives and external affairs in June 2026.
Dr. West has more than 35 years of leadership experience in academia, industry and military service. He most recently served as vice president for institutional effectiveness, operations, and process optimization at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida. He previously served as vice president and chief operating officer at Shaw University and held executive roles at Loyola University Chicago.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he is recognized for his mission-driven approach to organizational excellence and his success in driving multimillion-dollar capital projects and enrollment growth.
Dr. West holds a bachelor’s degree in human services from Ottawa University, a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola University Chicago, a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Georgia.
