Second Chance Welding Certificate Ceremony
On Thursday, May 26, 2022, eight incarcerated individuals received Welding Fundamentals certificates they earned by participating in Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Second Chance program. Speakers during the ceremony at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus included Kevin A. Carr, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections; Becky Alsup, MATC dean of the Manufacturing, Construction & Transportation Pathway; Sadique Isahaku, Ph.D., MATC dean of the General Education Pathway; and Deandre Davis, one of the students earning a certificate. Remarks also were given by Ronald Clohessy, Ph.D., MATC instructor; Dwayne Windham, manager of MATC’s correctional education; and William Smith, advisor for MATC’s correctional education.
