The Return of a Sweet Holiday Tradition

BAKING STUDENTS’ INGENUITY REVEALED IN GINGERBREAD HOUSES

The winners of MATC's gingerbread house competition were announced in a ceremony at the Milwaukee Public Market, 400 North Water Street on Monday, Dec. 12. The elaborate and fanciful gingerbread houses were created by MATC students from the baking and pastry arts associate degree program and the baking production diploma program. After being on display for 10 days, the public was encouraged to view and bid on the houses. Proceeds from silent auctions for each house will be used to offer scholarships to students in baking programs through the MATC Foundation, Inc. Elizabeth Cueto Coronado (brown sweater) was named the People’s Choice Award winner based on online public voting. Lauren Brill (red dress) won first place in the competition. Joynear Duncan (black and white sweater) won second place, and Eden Hyatt (striped sweater) was awarded third place. Each winner received a medal and a cash award from the Wisconsin Baking Association. See related story at https://www.matc.edu/news/2022/12/gingerbread-house-contest-brings-back-sweet-memories.html
