GED/HSED COMMENCEMENT - SPRING 2023
On Monday, May 22, 2023, Milwaukee Area Technical College hosted the GED/HSED graduation in Cooley Auditorium at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus. More than 200 students were honored for earning General Educational Development (GED) certificates and High School Equivalency Diplomas (HSED). The ceremony recognized students who graduated from MATC and five community-based educational partners – Adult Learning Center, Literacy Services of Wisconsin, Social Development Commission (SDC), UMOS Inc. and YWCA Southeast Wisconsin. Speakers included Mohammad Dakwar, Ed.D., MATC vice president of Learning and Sadique Isahaku, Ph.D., MATC dean of the General Education pathway. Holly McCoy, executive director, Literary Services of Wisconsin, gave the keynote address. Student speakers Vannatyie Binion and Keyara Hall Jefferson gave testimonials about their journey toward receiving diplomas, and thanked their supporters.
