DACA Plus Scholarship Program Announcement
On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, a news conference highlighting the $112,000 donation to MATC Foundation Inc. from Van Horn Latino, an automotive dealership, and El Rey, a family-owned grocer, for the college’s DACA Plus Scholarship program was held at the MATC Education Center at Walker’s Square. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a U.S. immigration policy that allows eligible immigrants into the country for a period without fear of deportation. MATC students who are not eligible for financial aid because of their DACA or undocumented status can apply for the scholarship. Recipients will be awarded $500 to $1,000 per semester, depending on the number of MATC credits taken. Speakers at the event included Vicki J. Martin, Ph.D., MATC president; Julie Ebert, MATC Foundation Board president; and Antonio Diaz, MATC District Board director and general manager of Van Horn Latino. The DACA Plus scholarship application period for Fall 2022 continues through July 30. Learn more at matc.edu/daca.
