Magical Black Tears Experience Exhibit

Magical Black Tears Experience Exhibit

MATC kicked off Black History Month by opening the “Magical Black Tears Experience Exhibit.” Exhibit creator Decoteau J. Irby, Ph.D., explained how the children’s interactive exhibit was derived from a dream he had, which lead to his children’s picture book “Magical Black Tears: A Protest Story.” At the exhibit pilot opening, visitors enjoyed hearing from sponsors, and curator Jacqueline Robinson, Ph.D., an MATC instructor, as children explored the creative stations designed to learn about cooperative play. Caregivers and children ages 4-12 can watch films, read, write, create, pretend-play and problem-solve in a fun setting that teaches how everyday people take direct action to create a world free from racism. The exhibit is open to the public throughout February, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus in the Create Gallery on the first floor of the Main Building.
