2021 Fall GED/HSED Commencement
On Thursday, December 16, Milwaukee Area Technical College hosted its first in-person GED/HSED graduation on campus since the COVID-19 pandemic began. It was held in Cooley Auditorium at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus. More than 250 students were honored for earning General Educational Development (GED) certificates or High School Equivalency Diplomas (HSED). The ceremony recognized students who graduated from MATC and seven community-based educational partners – Adult Learning Center, Dominican Center, Journey House, Literacy Services of Wisconsin, Social Development Commission (SDC), UMOS Inc. and YWCA Southeast Wisconsin. Speakers included Dr. Aronica V. Williams, a family practice physician and chief medical officer at Milwaukee Health Services Inc. (MHSI); Dr. Vicki J. Martin, MATC president; Dr. Sadique Isahaku, MATC dean of the General Education pathway; and Drewnette Hines and Araceliz Ocana, both graduating from MATC. Dr. Martin officially conferred the degrees.
