The Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) District Board has contracted with Greenwood Asher & Associates (GA&A), an executive search firm, to help find the college’s next president. GA&A, has developed and finalized a position profile and is now accepting applications and nominations.

vicki-martin-headshot.pngCurrent MATC President Vicki J. Martin, Ph.D., announced her retirement in September 2023 after 35 years with the college, including a 10-year tenure as president.

She will continue to remain fully engaged throughout the 2023-24 academic year. Her retirement will be effective June 30, 2024. The MATC District Board plans to have a president in place effective July 1.

In December, GA&A gathered community input through student, faculty, staff, administration and community stakeholder engagement sessions.

This input helped the MATC District Board develop a Presidential position profile and provided context for future candidate interviews and application assessments. In addition to posting the application for the national search, GA&A is placing advertisements and networking to recruit candidates and obtain applications and nominations.

MATC’s president serves as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the college, reporting to the MATC District Board of Directors. The president is responsible for day-to-day administration, management and oversight of all college operations. The president leads strategically and works with a wide range of internal and external constituents to execute the college’s mission and vision. The president develops business and community partnerships to provide employment pathways for students and works to increase philanthropy through the MATC Foundation Inc., the college’s philanthropic partner. The president must advocate locally, regionally and nationally for the distinctive technical college mission and must manage the college to align the needs of students, employers and taxpayers with the economic realities of southeast Wisconsin.

For best consideration, nominations and applications should be submitted by Tuesday, March 5. The position profile and the search timeline are available at matc.edu/president.
