Message from President Martin on the Violence at Waukesha Parade

Dr. Vicki J. Martin, MATC President, martinv@matc.edu

November 22, 2021

Dear Members of the MATC Community:

My heart is heavy this morning as I think about those affected by yesterday’s horrific violence, as well as all of our students, employees, friends, colleagues and neighbors in Waukesha. This is truly tragic for what should have been a wonderful family and community event.

I want to share my condolences with all those who are hurting, and my gratitude to all of the first responders and medical staff who perform their important work in incredibly challenging circumstances.

If you need to talk to someone, please do not hesitate to seek support. Licensed professional counselors are available to MATC students through our Student Resource Center and our Employee Assistance Program is available to employees. For those with children in the School District of Waukesha, although classes are canceled, counselors are available at all district schools for students in need.

I know that the thoughts and hearts of the MATC community are with those in Waukesha, including our partners at Carroll University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Waukesha and Waukesha County Technical College.

Sincerely,

Vicki J. Martin, Ph.D.
President, Milwaukee Area Technical College
