The MATC Funeral Service Program has established shared program arrangements with select Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) colleges. These shared programs create a pathway for students across Wisconsin to pursue a career in funeral service by combining the convenience of local coursework with the specialized training offered at MATC.

How it Works
Initial Coursework at Your Local WTCS College
Students begin their educational journey at a participating WTCS college closer to their home. During this time, they complete the general education requirements of the Funeral Service Program. This includes coursework in:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Chemistry
- Microbiology
- Psychology
- English
- Sociology
- Accounting
- Interpersonal Communications
- Legal Environment of Business
Transition to MATC
After completing the designated prerequisite coursework at their local WTCS college, students will transfer to MATC for their technical coursework. MATC’s accredited program provides the specialized facilities and instruction necessary to teach all technical aspects of funeral service. This includes coursework involving:
- Introduction to Funeral Service
- Laws, Rules, and Regulations of Funeral Service
- Funeral Service Sciences and Pathology
- Embalming and Restorative Art
- Psychology of Funeral Service
- Funeral Service Management

The technical coursework through MATC will be available through a high-flex delivery system, including face-to-face, virtual, or recorded lectures. Students will be required to travel to MATC (West Allis Campus) for labs/tours.
Earn Your Associate Degree & Pursue Licensure
After completion of the technical coursework, students graduate with an Associate of Applied Science Degree from the MATC Funeral Service Program, a respected leader in funeral service education.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be prepared for the State of Wisconsin and National Board Examinations. Both are required for licensure.
