The Milwaukee U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office, along with Milwaukee Area Technical College and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, will host a naturalization ceremony at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 8, at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus. It will be held in Cooley Auditorum, on the second floor of the Main Building, 1015 N. 6th St.
A total of 131 applicants representing 44 countries are expected to take the Oath of Allegiance and become U.S. citizens. Magistrate Judge David E. Jones, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Wisconsin, will preside.
The national anthem will be sung by Russell Spahn, associate dean of MATC’s School of Technology and Applied Sciences. Bara Oman, instructional chair of MATC's English as a Second Language program, will welcome the guests and Dr. Mohammad Dakwar, MATC provost, will deliver remarks. Kay Leopold, field office director, USCIS Milwaukee Field Office, will lead the pledge of allegiance and offer the motion to accept the new citizens.
