GED/HSED Winter Graduation Held Dec. 19 at MATC's Downtown Milwaukee Campus

Approximately 100 students were honored for earning General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diplomas (HSED) Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus. The ceremony was held in Cooley Auditorium. Students graduating from Milwaukee Area Technical College and nine community-based educational partners were recognized.

Speakers included State Sen. Lena Taylor of Milwaukee; Dr. Mohammad Dakwar, MATC provost; Dr. Regina O. Smith, MATC dean of the School of Pre-College Education; and Sylvia Vasquez, a graduate who represented Literacy Services of Wisconsin. Dakwar officially conferred the degrees. Graduates Rahsa Moore of MATC's HSED 5.09 program and Crystal Hoover of Silver Spring Neighborhood Center made announcements.

This December ceremony was the first mid-year GED/HSED graduation hosted by MATC.
