PepsiCo Uplift Scholarship announcement

On Tuesday, September 27, a check presentation of $500,000 to the MATC Foundation for the PepsiCo Foundation Uplift Scholarship program was held at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus. MATC is the only community/technical college in Wisconsin to be selected for the PepsiCo Foundation Uplift program. A total of 160 Black and Hispanic/Latino/a MATC students — 80 scholars per year over two years — will each receive $2,000 scholarships. The goal of the Uplift program is to address minority underrepresentation in high-demand fields. In addition to financial assistance, the program provides scholarship recipients access to dedicated success coaches, emergency grants and financial literacy courses. Speakers included Laura Bray, MATC’s vice president of college advancement and external communications, and MATC Foundation executive director; Eva Martinez Powless, Ph.D, MATC’s chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer; Stefan Bynoe, PepsiCo senior unit general manager; and Janay Alston, MATC's director of districtwide advising.
