Incident Safety Officer

- This two-day National Fire Academy course examines the Safety Officer's role at emergency responses. The primary focus shall be on developing decision making skills through the recognition of clues that affect personal safety. A specific focus on operations within an Incident Command System (ICS) as a Safety Officer is a main theme.
- Response to all-hazards types of situations will be emphasized

- Obtain a SID (FEMA Student ID Number): register at https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid - select (Register for FEMA SID). Follow instructions to create your account. You will receive an email with your SID. Save this number in a secure location. Students registering for the two-day off-campus Incident Safety Officer course are required to register PRIOR TO THE CLASS with FEMA for a Student Identification Number (SID). This number will be used in place of a Social Security Number on the General Admissions Application Form (FEMA Form FF-USFA-FY-21-101).
- Use the following link: FF-USFA-FY-21-101 to fill out the General Admissions Application Form. Please use the fillable form feature when completing your form. Unreadable forms may result in Course Completion Certificate not made.
- Have application signed by your Fire Chief or Training Officer & email to plevakt@matc.edu (Tom)
- Print ISO Student Manual (pdf), ISO Handouts (pdf) & Administration Code SP330 (pdf) and bring to first class.
