Tools for Your Success and Student Resources
Your program Counselor is your "point person" at MATC and one of your first professional contacts for information about your program and the classes you will need.  One of the services offered by Counselors for students is career planning. Career Planning services help you stay on track as you transition from college to your future career.  To learn more about these services visit Career Planning.  For more information related to counseling services please visit Counseling.

A College Success course is available for students who want to learn strategies to help become a better student.  Talk to a Counselor about these offerings.

The recommended course load for students who work at a job for 40 or more hours a week is 3-6 credits. For those who work 20-40 hours, 6-9 credits are recommended; and for those who do not have a job, 12 or more credits are recommended. A general rule of thumb is for a student to allow 2 hours of study for each credit you enroll in. For example, if you take 12 credits in college you should have 24 hours of study time allotted. Being in college full time is a full time job. Plan your schedule wisely.

MATC has many resources to help you achieve academic success. Please review the Student Resources links at the bottom of this page.

STANDARDS for ACADEMIC SUCCESS

The MATC Standards for Academic Success define the requirements students must meet to maintain satisfactory academic progress. There is an established process to identify, notify and provide assistance to students who fall below required academic standards. Failure to maintain good standing can result in your suspension from MATC.

To maintain good standing at MATC you must:

  • Maintain a minimum term and cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
  • Maintain a minimum 67% course completion rate - term and cumulative.
(U, W and I grades are considered as credits attempted and not completed.)

Students have access to their grades and unofficial transcripts through INFOnline. This information is listed under the Academic Profile menu. When your final grades are posted to INFOnline, you will receive an e-mail notifying you of the posting.

If you're looking for help with your course work, be sure to seek Academic Support services including tutoring and support centers.

Review your Program Requirements in the "Detailed Program Information" section located on each web page for your specific Degree or Diploma program.

The Program Plan is the official graduation audit of your program credits. You may access this document at INFOnline after you complete the admissions and orientation process.  Be sure to find out how to access this important resource tool online.
