The Judicial Reporting program trains students to record the spoken word at speeds ranging from 180 to 225 words per minute. Reporters usually create verbatim transcripts of conversations, legal proceedings and meetings, but also provide closed-captioning and real-time translation services to deaf and hard-of-hearing populations. This shared program with Lakeshore Technical College (LTC) offers live, interactive TV classes sent from LTC to MATC. Students take General Studies classes and labs at MATC. Many courses are also offered online.
