MILWAUKEE  (March 30, 2009) - Arturo Martinez, associate dean in Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Pre-College Division, has been named one of 12 individuals who will serve on the U.S. Department of Education’s Discretionary Grants Team. The rulemaking committee was established to develop proposed discretionary grant program regulations. Martinez is serving as a primary negotiator for the team.

“This is a very prestigious appointment for Art,” said Pre-College Interim Dean Patricia Kappel. “He is involved in a number of national organizations and demonstrates exceptional commitment to issues that affect MATC students.”

Martinez represents institutions and organizations participating in the Migrant Education High School Equivalency Program (HEP) and College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). Martinez serves as president of the National HEP/CAMP Association.
