Gingerbread Houses Made by MATC Baking Production/Pastry Arts Students Displayed at Milwaukee Public Market
MILWAUKEE – More than 25 elaborate and fanciful gingerbread houses created by baking production/pastry arts students at Milwaukee Area Technical College were on display in early December at the Milwaukee Public Market, 400 N. Water St. Proceeds from silent auctions for each house went toward baking production/pastry arts student scholarships through the MATC Foundation, Inc.
Industry professionals will judged the houses for design and quality. Visitors are voted for the “people’s choice” scholarship winner.
The contest and auction were sponsored by the Wisconsin Bakers Association, The Milwaukee Public Market, The American Institute of Wine and Food and The Construction Specifications Institute.
In a related activity, the public was invited to build their own gingerbread houses on Dec. 3, with assistance from representatives of the American Institute of Wine and Food; and MATC’s Culinary Arts Program, Baking and Pastry Arts Program and Vista AmeriCorps.
