Legislative Candidate Forum for 60th Assembly District Was Focus of April 1 Friday Forum
MEQUON, Wis. (April 6, 2011) – A “Legislative Candidate Forum for the 60th Assembly District” was held from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, in the Lecture Hall at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Mequon Campus, 5555 W. Highland Road. All candidates for the 60th state assembly district seat had equal time to introduce themselves, answer questions and discuss their vision for the district and for the State of Wisconsin. The 60th Assembly District seat has been vacant since former Rep. Mark Gottlieb resigned to become secretary of transportation for the State of Wisconsin.
Candidates included seven Republicans – Jake Curtis and Paul Melotik of Grafton; Tim Schwister and Rik Kluessendorf of Port Washington; Duey Stroebel and Gary Wickert of the Town of Cedarburg; and John Soper of Saukville. Democratic Party candidates were Perry Duman of Port Washington and Rick Aaron of Bayside. Kit Keller of the Ozaukee League of Women voters moderated the forum.
Stroebel and Aaron won in the April 5 primary election. The final election will be held May 3.
Friday forums are held on the first Friday of every other month from October through April.
Co-sponsored by the Mequon Campus of Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors and the University of Wisconsin Extension, the series advances regional progress by bringing stakeholders and decision makers together to solve problems, share information and build relationships. The April 1 forum was held in cooperation with the Ozaukee League of Women Voters and the Ozaukee County Chambers of Commerce.
