Congresswoman Gwen Moore and State Sen. Spencer Coggs Participated in MATC Early Vote Rally
MILWAUKEE (April 4, 2011) – U.S Congresswoman Gwen Moore, and State Sen. Spencer Coggs participated in an “Early Vote Rally” at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus.
The rally started at the Student Center and was followed by a march to the Frank P. Zeidler Municipal Building, where Milwaukee residents were urged to vote early for the April 5 election. The rally was held on April 4 in commemoration of the day in 1968 when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated while supporting striking sanitation workers.
MATC students, faculty and staff; community leaders and union members attended the rally, which was sponsored by the American Federation of Teachers, Local 212; the MATC Latino Student Organization and WISPRIG (Wisconsin Student Public Interest Research Group) and open to the public.
