MILWAUKEE (July 6, 2011) – The Milwaukee Area Technical College District Board has extended MATC President Dr. Michael L. Burke’s contract through June 30, 2015.

“We are extremely pleased with Dr. Burke’s leadership and his vision for the college,” said Chairperson Melanie C. Holmes. “He is committed to making MATC a premier technical college and working with local business, educational and civic leaders to provide the necessary education and training to the workforce of today and tomorrow, while helping ensure the Milwaukee region’s economic vitality.”

“It is my privilege to lead such a respected institution as MATC,” said Dr. Burke. “In 18 months at the college, I have grown to appreciate the essential need MATC serves within the greater Milwaukee community. As we launch our centennial celebration, I look forward to building a strong foundation for the next 100 years at MATC.”

Dr. Burke was given a two-year contract when he was hired on Jan. 6, 2010. The ninth president at MATC, he previously served as president at San Jose City College (2007-2010) and North Idaho College (1998-2007).
