She also is the director of the Milwaukee Women’s Center, which is a division ofCommunity Advocates. Buck Hogan is responsible for a 75-person staff and for programming, which includes overseeing three emergency shelters and support services for women, men and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues and poverty.
Buck Hogan said of the award, “I’m so grateful to receive an award for doing what I love to do. Everyone has the ability to change and grow and make their lives better. I’m thankful to be part of helping members of this community achieve their goals.”
Despite her full schedule with the Women’s Center, Buck Hogan makes it a point to continue teaching at MATC. She said, “I’m really interested in giving back to the human services profession by helping prepare new, fresh, innovative minds to enter the field. Because I work in human services, I can give students a real hands-on view of what’s going on in the field right now and help them determine if they’re right for this kind of job. I really enjoy teaching.”
