Downtown Milwaukee Campus
To prepare for a Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) career, students learn theoretical concepts and clinical applications of the procedures used to diagnose and relieve the symptoms of cardiac pathologies.
Program applicants select either the invasive (Cardiac Catheterization Lab) or noninvasive (Echocardiography) subspecialty. After the first year of general CVT courses, each subspecialty focuses on its unique curriculum. Hands-on instruction occurs in campus labs and in hospitals.
Career Outlook: The continuing demand for CVTs indicates strong employment opportunities. The projected growth is attributed to an increase in cardiovascular disease and the aging population.
Career Pathway: New program under development – EKG Technician certificate is planned to debut in 2016-17 for this pathway.
