Overview — Management Development (Supervisory Management) is an associate degree program designed to train people who are currently employed in leadership and management positions, or people who aspire to move into such positions. This program develops the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective leader in your organization. The curriculum focuses on assisting you to develop a wide range of supervisory skills in areas including human relations, budgeting, process improvement and report writing. Because the program is designed for working adults, it is offered in an accelerated format that allows you to finish your degree in less than three years by taking classes one evening per week, or on Saturday morning, year-round. You will take three-hour classes for eight weeks apiece. Online classes are also available. If your goal is to enhance your skills without completing an associate degree, you can enroll in the Management Development certificate program.
Career Outlook — Skilled leaders are essential to the success of organizations in all areas of business and industry. Graduates of MATC’s Management Development associate degree program typically are employed in positions as supervisors, lead persons, group leaders and managers.

- Understanding of the supervisor’s role in planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling a workgroup
- Leadership, team-building and communication skills
- Human resource skills in selecting, evaluating, training and disciplining employees
- Understanding the legal issues that face supervisors
- Skills in using data, problem-solving skills and processes to analyze and improve quality
