Compensation

Compensation administration provides programs and services to meet the needs of MATC employees and the long- and short-term goals of the district. The compensation program ensures that MATC salaries and jobs are equitable and competitive. These programs reflect a collaborative effort between MATC administration and its collective bargaining organizations.

403(b) Retirement Investment Plan
The college's 403(b) plan is a way for employees to invest for retirement on a tax-differed basis. Through payroll deduction, employees can direct their savings to dozens of investment choices offered by seven participating providers. It's an easy way to increase your financial security in retirement and defer taxes, too. This program is subject to Sec. 403(b) of the IRS code.

Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Plan

Labor Relations



Labor Relations operates as a part of the Human Resources Division, and is under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations.

The primary function is to administer the five work agreements currently in effect: for Local 212 Teachers and Professional Staff; Local 212 Paraprofessionals; Local 212 Part-Time Teachers; Local 587 AFSCME employees; and Local 715 TV Engineers and Videographers. These agreements cover about 1,250 full-time employees and 2,300 part-time employees.

The Labor Relations staff has the following responsibilities:

  • Handles and advises supervisors on grievances, complaints, mediations and arbitration
  • Advises supervisors regarding due process and just cause investigations
  • Supports negotiations and serves as spokespeople for the institution
  • Conducts research and makes recommendations for collective bargaining processes

 Certification

Certification is the process by which the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) ensures that employees in certified positions have appropriate academic, occupational and teaching experience.

Certification of personnel including supervisor's of instruction, faculty, counselors, instructional specialists, librarians and certain instructional-related administrators is governed by the Wisconsin Administrative Code, Chapter VTAE 3.

The Certification Office staff has the following responsibilities: Determines eligibility for initial and renewal certification Maintains certification files and records Processes certification records with the WTCS Board Communicates with internal and external customers regarding certification requirements Facilitates the annual certification audit.
