350 Students to Receive GEDs and HSEDs in Virtual Graduation Ceremony Hosted by MATC May 18

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Area Technical College will host a graduation for 350 students receiving General Educational Development (GED) certificates and High School Equivalency Diplomas (HSEDs). The virtual ceremony will stream at matc.stageclip.com beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 18. The ceremony will recognize students who are graduating from MATC and four community-based educational partners.

Each student has been asked to upload photos or video messages to be inserted into the ceremony. 

The keynote speaker is Dr. Kweyku Akyirefi, the president and CEO of BLAQUESMITH Psychological Consultative Services, Inc., and a community activist working on civil justice issues of mental health reform, human trafficking and violence prevention. Dr. Sadique Isahaku, MATC dean of the General Education Pathway also will speak and confer the degrees. Student speakers are Tareka Rogers from UMOS and Serica May from the YWCA.
