Letter to Donor Regarding Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19)

Help MATC Students: Advance Digital Equity During the COVID19 Crisis

Dear Friends of MATC,

The safety and health of our students, faculty, staff and administrators is our guiding star in this difficult and rapidly-changing time. To support the wellbeing of our students and employees, MATC has suspended all in-person classes and has closed campuses until further notice. Where possible, MATC is moving courses to 100% online delivery no later than Monday, April 13.

We need your help to support students as they make this transition.

For more than a decade, students in need have been served by the MATC Foundation Inc.’s student emergency fund. Typically, the foundation awards 200+ emergency grants each semester. Now, we anticipate heightened demand.

Please consider making a donation to help meet the significant increase in student needs

  • Please go to www.matc.edu/donate and select Dreamkeepers Emergency Assistance Fund.
  • MATC students are juggling scarce funds to meet basic needs including food, medicine and shelter and maintain work and family commitments while continuing their coursework.
  • To support our students’ ability to continue their education, we are exploring how to expand eligible uses of the Dreamkeepers Emergency Assistance Fund to address digital equity by providing technology resources to participate in online coursework. In addition to providing grants for basic needs, MATC will supply technology resources to financially-eligible students in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • We all must turn to online resources to stay informed, connected and productive during the global pandemic. Our students are no different and must have access to the Internet via a reliable computer. Some academic programs estimate that 25% of their students will need support to participate in coursework online.

Supporting our students’ basic needs and education is an investment in the future of our region, because 87% of our graduates work in the greater Milwaukee area and generate $1.5 billion in annual economic impact.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, kindness and generosity.
