Role and Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities of MATC District Directors

The Milwaukee Area Technical College District ("MATC") is governed by a nine member Board of Directors.

The District Board's duties and powers are outlined in Chapter 38 of the Wisconsin Statutes. Each member of the District Board has the responsibility to ensure that MATC is meeting its commitment in increasing the potential and productivity of the people in the district through the development and delivery of high-quality educational programs consistent with current and emerging educational and labor market needs. In carrying out these responsibilities, board members are expected to prepare for and attend monthly meetings of the District Board, which have been historically scheduled on the last Tuesday evening of each month. Attendance at other special board meetings, retreats and special events promoting the college's initiatives is also expected.

District Directors serve without compensation. However, directors do receive reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
