Area Student Senate Board (ASSB)

The Area Student Senate Board is a student group of the current officers and selected members of the four campus student senates.

The organization coordinates recommendations on district legislation. These recommendations address student concerns for the administration's consideration.

The board also is responsible for reviewing and confirming all student selections and appointments to any district; local, state or national committee; organization; and/or conference including the student representative to the district board.

This group opens lines of communication between district students and the administration, creating a positive means for the resolution of student concerns.

Student Life Committee

This standing committee of the college reviews and recommends action to the administration on matters affecting students and student life. The committee's primary duties are:

  • Developing the non-athletic activity budget and setting the student activity fee.
  • Approving new student organizations seeking recognition and revoking the charters of existing organizations for violations of school policies.
  • Making recommendations on policies concerning rules and regulations governing student life.

The committee consists of students, faculty, staff and administration.

    Student Senate

The Student Senate is a most important part of student life. It is the senate's goal to represent all students.

Representatives are free to make recommendations to the administration on any college issue. While the student senate cannot make laws by its own action, its recommendations are given serious consideration by the administration.

Student senators may be excused from classes to attend regularly scheduled senate meetings, which are held twice monthly. Additional meetings may be held, but attendance at these meetings will not be the basis for an excused absence from class.

For more information, contact the Student Senate office or Student Life office at any campus.
