Mulitcultural Affairs - African-American Office

African-American students comprise the largest minority group in the college. The African-American Office has two African-American Student Services Specialists. They work to make the college experience for black students positive. Case-management plays an important role in tracking the progress of minority students and in their retention. The Specialists help students apply for the Minority Retention Grant.  Also, the African-American Office participates in cultural events throughout the school year such as Black History Month celebrations and culturally diverse activities with other ethnic groups.

In addition, the Minority Peer Mentoring program works out of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. This is a student service program that pairs new college students with successful students who are in their programs, have good grade point averages, and are close to graduation. The staff works to make students feel comfortable and be successful.
