Academic Standing Explanation

Your academic status will be "None at this time" if this is your first semester at MATC or if you are not a program student.

Good Academic Standing: To maintain Good Academic Standing, you must meet the following conditions:

1.

Minimum 2.0 Semester GPA

2.

Minimum 2.0 Cumulative GPA

3.

Minimum 67% Cumulative Course Completion Rate (U,W, and I grades are considered as credits attempted but not successfully completed.)

4.

Minimum 67% Semester Course Completion Rate (U,W, and I grades are considered as credits attempted but not successfully completed.)

WARNING:  If you fail to meet the standards for Good Academic Standing listed above, you will be placed on Academic Warning. You are not restricted in the number of credits that you can take, but you must achieve a minimum 67% semester completion rate and a minimum 2.0 semester GPA to avoid being placed on academic suspension. You will return to Good Academic Standing when you meet all four criteria listed above.

SUSPENSION: If you are on Academic Warning and fail to meet the semester GPA of at least 2.0 and the semester course completion rate of at least 67%, you will be placed on Academic Suspension. You may file an Academic Appeal for Reinstatement. Contact the Counseling Office at your campus for procedures and deadlines.

PROBATION:  Upon successful appeal of your suspension status, you will be placed on Academic Probation and will be limited to a maximum of eight counselor-approved credits.  You must successfully achieve a 100% course completion rate and a minimum 2.0 GPA each semester to continue at MATC.  Failing to do so will result in Academic Suspension.

Reinstated students on probation who have lost financial aid eligibility must complete a minimum of six college-level credits at MATC before being reconsidered for financial aid.

You will return to Good Academic Standing when you meet both semester and cumulative requirements, as defined by the standards for Good Academic Standing listed above.
