This associate degree program is designed to prepare you to evaluate, treat and care for patients with lung and heart disease. Respiratory therapists administer treatments, operate life support systems and conduct cardiopulmonary testing. The usual work settings are hospitals, diagnostic labs, rehabilitation facilities and home care. An aging population and an increase in cardiopulmonary disorders ensure ample job opportunities. Selected first-year courses may be taken on a part-time basis. For additional career information, visit www.aarc.org.
