A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) monitors patients, administers medications, and assists the attending physician and registered nurses. The MATC Practical Nursing curriculum features hands-on practice in the college's well-equipped nursing lab, and supervised patient care in various health facilities. This program is flexible; it may be taken on a part-time basis and runs just two semesters and six weeks in length. LPNs are in very high demand due to the current nursing shortage. Core skills include the ability to work under stress and a sincere concern for people. Expect to do some lifting. Upon graduation, you may take the PN licensure exam.
