Graphic Communication Technologies is an associate degree program geared toward preparing you for employment in the printing industry. Coursework covers desktop publishing programs, proofing and platemaking, offset press operation and customer service. The printing industry is the third largest manufacturing employer in Wisconsin, and over one million skilled professionals are employed nationwide. Job titles include estimator trainee, press operator, scanner operator, postpress production and prepress production technician. Computer-aided technology in the field changes quickly, so you should be comfortable with learning new software and have basic keyboarding skills. Other core skills include a strong eye for details, teamwork and the ability to meet deadlines.
