2008-09 Course Requirements

Architectural Technology is a two-year associate degree program. It is structured to prepare students for work in architectural and construction-related fields. The primary emphasis of the program is to develop skills in computer-aided architectural drafting using AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM)software. Construction materials and methods, building codes and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and other construction systems are covered. Job duties may include basic drafting and detailing, building-code research, estimating, technical report writing, order specification and field inspection. Core skills: one year of high school algebra and geometry, strong visualization and math skills, and a teamwork sensibility.
