Program curriculum requirements are subject to change.

Beginning spring 2012, students will be admitted to the Medical Coding Specialist program through a petition process.

This program does not have a waitlist. Students are admitted through a petition process. Please read all information through the links on the right.

A criterion considered in the petition process is verification of student residency. As directed by TCS 10, students selected via the petition process are chosen based on MATC district residency, then Wisconsin non-district residency, followed by non-residents, unless otherwise articulated.

Through this 20-credit diploma program, you'll be come a key member of a health care team. Medical coders classify medical data from patient records, generally in the hospital setting. They gain expertise in coding systems, medical terminology, disease processes and pharmacology. Graduates can become certified through the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders.
