Overview — Advanced standing for the Technical Studies: Apprentices associate degree is based solely on your apprenticeship experience.

You may apply for advanced standing if you hold a Wisconsin Certificate of Apprenticeship that included a minimum of 400 hours of related instruction in a Wisconsin Technical College System college or other accredited institution. You may also be considered if you possess documentation of having served an apprenticeship recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor.

 

With proper documentation, 39 selected credits will be awarded toward the degree. There is no charge for this course waiver. 

 

Preparation for Admission — The following are required for admission to the program:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Demonstration of proficiency in basic skills through a course placement assessment
  • Minimum of 400 hours of related apprenticeship instruction in a Wisconsin Technical College System college or other accredited institution
  • Interview with the program coordinator

Start Dates: August/January

This program will transfer to one or more four-year institutions.

 

Curriculum effective 2017-18. 

Current MATC students should consult their Academic Program Plan for specific curriculum requirements. 

A minimum of 25% of the technical studies credits must be earned at MATC.
