This certificate program provides the core skills recognized by the water industry for a first-rung entry-level position. The water technician performs basic, hands-on technical work, and this program is intended to be the first step of a career pathway to increase the number of individuals gaining technical/engineering skills. Additionally, this certificate will enhance employment opportunities in the water sector for individuals with a college degree.

Employment opportunities are expected to grow in the construction, engineering, manufacturing, science and environmental services fields. Further education and experience allows for potential advancement opportunities in the water sector.

The courses in this certificate program count toward the completion of MATC's Environmental Health and Water Quality Technology associate in applied science degree program (10-506-1).

 

Preparation for Admission — The following are required for admission to the program:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • One semester of high school-level algebra
