Placement Model
Students are placed in a community organization, serving 2-3 hours per week. Students reflect on their service through journals, class discussion and/or presentations.

Example: MATC Teacher Education Preparation students assisted in teaching youth about the environment and nature at the Urban Ecology Center branch at Washington Park. This gave students real-world experience in teaching methods outside a traditional classroom.

Presentation Model
Students present information from their class material that may be useful to a particular community organization or to the community at-large.

Example: MATC nursing students partnered with Parklawn Academy's school nurse to present material about nutrition and staying healthy. This increased the students' presentation skills while reinforcing material they were learning in class.

Product Model
Students create a product for the benefit of the community agency while practicing their skills learned in class.

Example: Communications students created a promotional video that was shown at MATC's third annual Walk Against Poverty. The students used research and interview skills to create an effective video to build awareness for walkers.

Project Model
Students work in groups to devise and implement a project on behalf of the community.

Example: "What do veterans need?" was a question addressed by Writing Composition students. They implemented primary research, reading, writing, and interview skills to learn more about the needs and perspectives of veterans at MATC and in the Milwaukee area. This culminated in their service at a Safe Halloween event at Vets Place Central.

Event Model
Students design a school or community-wide event to meet a community need.

Example: MATC's Human Relations students used research and team-work skills to provide information about voting and the electoral process as part of the iVote event. Students provided poster presentations on these topics to the MATC community at the Oak Creek and Downtown Milwaukee campuses.
