Finalists Announcement
After an extensive national search, the MATC District Board is pleased to announce that there are three finalists for the MATC president position. The three finalists are being invited to participate in public forums and interview with the MATC District Board in mid-December. The MATC presidential finalists are: Dr. Michael Burke, President of San Jose City College, CA. Previously, Dr. Burke was President of North Idaho College, ID. Dr. Burke holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Houston. Dr. Algie Gatewood, President of Cascade Campus of Portland Community College, OR. Previously, Dr. Gatewood was Director of Health, Education and Welfare/Assistant Director of the North Carolina State Education Assistant Authority, NC, an administrative unit of the University of North Carolina. Dr. Gatewood holds an Ed.D. in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University, a Master of Arts in Education from Appalachian State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science/History, Livingston College. Dr. Vicki Martin, Interim President of Milwaukee Area Technical College, WI. Previously, Dr. Martin served as Provost of Milwaukee Area Technical College, WI. Dr. Martin holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from UW-Madison, master’s degrees from the University of North Dakota (Counseling and Guidance) and Cardinal Stritch University (Business Management) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from UW-Milwaukee.
