Graduates of MATC’s culinary arts associate degree program will visit their alma mater as part of the new Alumni Chef Series that will be held in Cuisine, the college’s student-run restaurant on the Downtown Milwaukee Campus.
When reflecting on his decision to attend MATC, Pastiche owner/chef Michael Engel commented, “I had already decided that I wanted to go to school and become a chef someday. Many people spoke highly of MATC and the instructors/chefs. I turned down a full scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America because I wanted to attend MATC and have never felt that I made the wrong choice. I am proud to say that my son is now pursuing his culinary apprenticeship through MATC as well.” Engel visited with MATC students and Cuisine patrons the weeks of April 8 and 15.
Instructor/chef Bob Barton believes the Alumni Chef Series is a tremendous opportunity for current MATC students. “We are fortunate to have many culinary arts alumni in the greater Milwaukee area,” said Barton. “The students will have a chance to meet the best and the brightest in our industry and this will have a significant influence on them.”
